I have been looking at Citabrias and Decathelons for about 6 months looking for something in my budget. Today I came across a nice example 150hp Citabria that had some of the nicest (not perfect) paint on it I have seen so far. For sure it had a patch or two, but it was without the usual cracks in the paint that I usually see in most older examples. The owner says while he did not repaint it, and as it was when he bought it 6 years ago, he believes it is the original paint. What struck me is that the stars in a circle around the vertical logo, and the checkerboard up front etc. were vinyl. They looked good, but on the original planes that was all paint right?
