Rear Seat Heater for 1973 7ECA

I am restoring my 1973 7ECA (Lycoming O-235-C1) and I want to add a rear seat heater. I ordered a conversion kit from the factory which is very complete, but the installation drawing shows the newer style exhaust sytem which has only one heat muff in the cross-over section. Unfortunately, my plane has the older style cross-over system which had two separate mufflers and two separte heat muffs. The right muff supplies the carb heat and the left muff supplies the front seat heater. My mechanic says I need to get documentation of how this was done on the '73 model before he will sign it off!

I am certain that Bellanca Champion offered a rear seat heater in 1973. I remember seeing it in specification sheets and the control location is already marked on my instrument panel where the knob is supposed to go. Now for the questions (finally). Does anyone have a 7ECA with the two muffer exhaust system with a rear seat heater? If so, which muff does the heat come from? Does anyone know where I can get hold of factory drawings for this installation.

Thanks,
Jim Phillips

Phil,
My 1968 7ECA has rear seat heat. The parts manual, '64-'73, shows the rear seat heater on the right side. I've never physically verified that. You may want to consider getting a parts manual.
