Recommendations For Best Mechanical Tach?

In October, I'll be installing the freshly overhauled 165 Franklin in my airplane to replace the aging, but incredibly reliable 150 that's in it now. The redline RPM is different between the 150 & 165, so I now have a good excuse to replace my somewhat twerky tach and noisy tach cable. Does anyone have a mechanical tach they like?

And no, I'm not interested in the digital whiz bang stuff. I've seen the guts of my engine and have concluded that a 25 degree difference in CHT or a 3 bar width difference in peak EGT at exactly 3016' Pressure Altitude at ISA + 10.62 Kelvin is of no interest to me. I fly my airplane to get away from that OCD stuff.

Just send yours out for an overhaul and they will remark it for the correct limits. I think new cables and housings are available. While the cable is off, pull the tack drive to make sure the gear isnt worn. Oops, it will be a fresh engine. I would check the tack drive gear anyway. _____Grant.
