There are a bunch of suggested ways...none officially in print, to remove our plugs. Since they are installed at much lower torques than 18mm plugs( ~200 vs 360 in-lbs), you can...
Tighten them a small amount before removing, and or...
UNtighten them a SMALL amount to break loose, than retighten them a bit, and then loosen, or...
Just go for it and pray the coils don't back out.
For years, the last was my way...so I've had a 14mm Helicoils install kit ever since the second time I removed the plugs 20+ years ago. Haven't had to use it much since I got it, and I changed how I remove the plugs.
