greetings!

we're in the thick of annual time for N522A. i need to re-seal the l.g. shock struts, but have no documentation. i have looked at russ williams' web site and copied the diagram he has there, but i would like to have something a bit more detailed. are the struts from the 14-19 the same as anything else (-2,-3)? anyone have anything they could share? any documentation and/or guidance and counseling is heartily appreciated. i'll gladly pay copy/postage costs for whatever you have.

many thanks in advance! :D

I have a 14-13-2 and I'm replacing my springs and seals now. I also had all the bushing replaced too, should be like new. I willl send you pictures in a few days. Darrell

Vic, I replaced the O-rings on my MLG. I used 2-327 and 2-330 (size). I found that I had to try different ones, as the first ones I used were just a teeny bit too small on the ID. Hope that helps. Larry

Ok, we're doing the annual on 74488 right now also, and the A&P's are baffled by the diagrams in the manual and the plane's gear being slightly different- on the paper, it looks like you should either pump oil into the gear through a fitting on the front of the gear leg, or through a fitting on the top- but there's nothing on the front of the leg, or even the back, and there's only a big bolt on the top, if I'm understanding them right, that we're all a little scared to remove, lest we discover the spring is "under pressure" or something fun like that. (!) I've found at least one lubrication diagram that seems to indicate removing that bolt and pouring some oil into the strut at that point, then working the strut to remove the air, then letting the excess oil out at the plug in front of the strut- but there may not be a plug in front of the strut??? Has anyone seen this before??????

Vic, I rebuilt my struts on my -2. They were just like Russ Williams pictures. The strut is not under any pressure. Jack the plane and partially retract the gear, disconnect the sissors and pull the lower leg, make sure you get all that 5606 all over the place. There should be a 1/4 pipe plug on the main strut just up from the sissor. This is where you fill the strut with 5606. It is like a motorcycle fork. After you spill all the oil out, you can remove the strut springs just like in Russell's pictures. I have detail drawings of the gear and if you provide an address I will send you copy. NO charge as Bellanca Boys got to stick together and keep our crates flying. Living in Penna. I wish I could see a blue sky! LYNN N9818B the crate. 8)
