Scout Gear for Citabria

I've seen several Citabrias with Scout gear, and I'm wondering what is involved in getting them approved and installed. If anyone has any information I'd appreciate it.

Scout gear, I just had mine installed at John Mark Air in Birchwood Airport, Northland told me they could not do it after I purchased my gear legs. I got them for $1000 dollars and it cost $600 to have them magnafluxed and straightened to specs. I had service kit #233 from ACAC installed and had 8 additional peices of steal added as gussettes to strenthen the frame and landing gear box. The fabic needs to be cut and fixed to do the welding. Figure 20 hours of labor and the misc parts add up fast, I think landing gear bolts and nuts are like $200. It is an awesome upgrade if done right, I would not do it without all of the resupport. The increase in the angle of attack and ground clearance in incredible. On a no wind day at 50, I can normally take off in 170 feet and land in 200 give or take depending on my accuracy. I also have the 160hp upgrade with VG's, 8040 prop and 29" tires. Mark is the only one would said he could get it done and he did. Well, worth the money to me. In the first 50 hours with the gear on I have did less than 5% of the damage to my prop than in the 50 previous hours (lots of rock chips before)(Prop cost $3000).

If you have anyother questions let me know, Terry

Terry,
Please shoot me an email. I'd like to ask you a question about your gear swap.
