Anyone use this Skytec F12ST2 starter http://www.skytecaircraftstarters.com/Other.htm in their Cruisair? A Stinson flyer tells me that he's heard there's a good one and a bad one? The good one having a 'gold' colored bendix gear.

Very interesting.
The original, F12ST1, has a bendix drive no longer made/supported, which sort of left many of us nervous about what we could do if the bendix on our starter went south. The answer was simple; nothing good. Fortunately Sky-Tec found someone who cared enough about Franklins (and their owners!) to help fund the work to come up with another Franklin suitable started that didn't use the bendix. I found out at Sun-N-Fun about the new starter, F12ST2. No mention was made by either of the Franklin engine shops in attendance of there being two varieties of that new unit.
