Solenoid overheating solution?

The solenoid, located in the rear battery compartment, is overheating and we're experiencing total electrical failure in our 1998 8KCAB. Has anyone experienced this before?

Hi John, battery solenoids just go bad after a number of years/hrs, I'd just get a new one and have it installed .
 
We installed a new one on Friday figuring it was a bad solenoid but the new one's doing the same thing, overheating and shutting down the main power to the panel.

Not to be a smarty but did you get a battery solenoid (continuous duty solenoid) starter solenoids look exactly the same but will last less than hr. in cont. usage.
