Step Attachment on 8KCAB

Can someone tell me the trick for keeping the steps in place on the tapered landing gear legs on my Decathlon?

I've tried a wrap of cloth tape and also tried rubber pipe tape. The cloth tape slides and the rubber deteriorates.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Remove it and use a stool, less drag less hassle.

The instructions that accompanied a new set of steps from ACA specified structural adhesive - I suggest you contact them for more info.
