Kathy and I just bought a Scout and we're looking for something to help up get it into the hangar. Anyone ever use the tail-dragger dragger and what did you think about it? Any other recommendations?

Thanks,

Tom and Kathy

I have used both the gas powered and the regular style taildragger draggers. IMHO the regular style works great and I can usually use the exercise anyways. I have a friend who has a Maule with the gas powered dragger and it takes some wrangling to get the gas powered one onto the tail. But I could see wher ethe gas powered one would be nice if you have a steep ramp or hill up into the hangar.

Few years ago my dad and I got an old electric motor and attached a cable and hook to the crank on the motor. We mounted the motor on a post int he rear venter of the hanger, now we can just pull up the the hanger and swing the tail around. Then we just have to put the little motor in reverse to wind the cable out and attach it to the tailwheel assembly via a hook, and then just have the machine roll the plane into the hanger. It basically works just like a winch you would see attached on the front of a truck.

To be honest though it was very cheap to make, but we can just roll the plane into the hanger ourselves in a third of the time.
