The Airplane That Almost Made Bellanca Very Famous

Dan covered this aircraft in his previous articles, but I just across this pretty pic from a pile of stuff I grabbed from Ebay years ago.

You'll note the "New York to Paris" on the side...which had to be changed when Charles Lindbergh offered to buy it, but the sellers insisted on choosing the pilot. Yeah...infuriating, to understate things. Needless to say when Clarence Chamberlain (sp?) flew the WB2 to Germany a couple of weeks after Lindbergh's flight, the words on the side were changed.

Jonathan, We need you you to come out of hibernation. Sometimes the best wines, women and airplanes are left undiscovered.....The Bellanca WB2 was destined to burn in a hangar fire while the NYP Ryan is in the NASM .I guess this i why I'm into O'douls, a divorce and Studebakers. BTW..... I fired up the 14-12F3 and took her around the patch. I'll bet the only pre-war Bellanca to fly in '010', so far. Dan
