I have a 1968 Citabria with an O 320, which replaced the original IO320. The throttle cable is simple a wire that is secured by a nut and bolt at each end. It does not really rotate freely and has crimpt at one end 5 times. Twice, it has broken. When it broke at the carburator end, the carborator went to full open throttle, but when it broke yesterday at the throttle quadrant inside the cabin, it did not go full open, but stayed at 1000 RPM. Has anyone else had this problem? The wire seemed to get stuck in the cable. This is a serious safety issue.
The newer models seem to have a clevis fork at both ends. Does anyone know if I can simply install this improved throttle cable, or does it need an STC? It seems to be standard on later models. What do I have to do to make it fit on the old 0 320 and the older Citabria models. Thanks, Colette Miller
