Tips on replacing the "Up" elevator cable on a 7ECA

Hello,

We need to replace the "up" elevator cable in a 7ECA. This is the cable that passes over a pulley that is situated just ahead of the vertical fin.

This aircraft has an inspection hole on the belly just below that pully. I can reach the pulley through that hole, but won't be able to remove it to route the cable over it.

Has anyone else done this? So far, I see 3 options: 1) Cut an new inspection hole on the side of the fuselage. 2) Attempt to crawl back there---not sure I would be able to get in and getting out might be a problem. 3). Make up the cable after threading it through the pulleys. (we had hoped to buy a prefabricated cable.

Any and all ideas are welcome!

Thanks!

Find a real small guy to carefully climb back in there. I have used my 12 year old grandson for just this sort of thing. at the time he was 5'8 and 100 lbs.

Thanks Gordy!
I guess at 6'1 and 210 I'm not qualified, however, I have a grandson who might be just right for the job.
