Touch up Paint on Fabric

I have had some paint flake off around one of my fuel caps and have a small area around an inspection plate where the fabric under the paint is showing. Can anyone recommend a good method to touch up these areas?
Thanks

Do you know what kind of paint? What year is the airplane. Is it factory paint or has it been decovered?

I'm not sure what paint the factory used in 1980, maybe Jerry could tell you.
If it was Poyurethane, I would chip off what is lose, lightly sand the area with 320, (but not the bare fabric) paint with a poly primer and finish with poly paint. The paint will brush on well if you let it sit long enough to get thick after mixing with the catayst. You can get the Superflight primer and paint at A.E.R.O. (just google SuperFlight or A.E.R.O) the paint is expensive, but it keeps for years in the refridgerator and the catalyst for years in the freezer. They will send you a color chart if you need it.
Don't know if this helps any, Bill Becker

In 1980 the factory used Randolph Butyrate Dope, generally very easy to repair but it may be brittle due to age. Each coat of dope softens and bonds to the lower layer, if the fabric is exposed you should cover it with silver before the color coat. a light sanding to clean the area, soften with a dope/thinner mixture with your fingers to feather the edges then a few coats of color sanding between coats, color match will be difficult with reds and dark colors. If it's brittle you may need to use rejuvenator.

Factory paint (unsure what kind the factory used) 1980 Model

not to hijack the thread, but cleaning the fabric may be a good idea as it probably has some fuel residue. I have a lot of experience in the auto paint field, and this seems like a big concern, if you want it to last.

I have a similar issue, but on the belly. prob is i have some oil/soot penetration, so for me to get ANYTHING to stick to it, i'd have to clean the fabric.

any experiences/ideas?

isopropyl alcohol, or something mild like that?
