Venturi locations

NC74392

74392 came with twin venturis mounted on the bottom of the boot cowl. I figured that wasn't the original configuration because of the panel riveted over the left side of the boot cowl. Well here's a pic from the Muse'e de l'air with the same setup as 392 had.
Personally I'll stick with mounting them on the boot cowl side, but I wonder if this was an option from the Bellanca factory?

Well, if you follow your French advisors, you'll be led down the wrong path. They can't even get their
photo correct. I have yet to see a reverse turning Franklin and Aeromatic.
Cruisairs came from the factory with one 2" venturi mounted behind the nosebowl.

Hi Dave,
I previously had mounted my super venturi behind the right exhaust pipe after having it ice up twice while IFR. I noticed that the suction was lower after I moved, which I attribute to the warmer, less dense air passing though it. Also had to clean it often. Since then, I replaced my vacuum gyros with electric gyros. If you're strictly VFR, I would NOT suggest moving it there.

My plan is to reinstall the 2" in the nose bowl for the T&B and the bigger one on the left side running AI and DG.

Most of those 2 inch ones in the nose bowl have been discarded. I have only seen one, and it was from a plane that had been apart for decades. I suspect there is a reason that almost everybody changed to a different venturi, or an electric T&B. Does anyone know how effective (or not) that they were? _____Grant.

My guess is you can only run one instrument on it. Anything else will not have enough suction. I believe it was intended for the T&B.

I believe that a 2" is only suitable to power a T&B, with a needle valve to set the correct vacuum.
