Viking seats in a Cruisair? And another rudder spring Q

1) I saw a Cruisair (N44FP) with Viking seats (front only). Is there an STC for this :?:

2) My cockpit rudder springs rub on the fuselage tubing. Is that normal or am I missing some sort of adjustment :?:

Dave, this is funny
Chris had problem with rudder spring as well. I sent him a picture of my set up yesterday. Do you want the picture by e-mail?

Alain.

I had the springs in wrong. They are now corrected.
See what happens when you don't take all the pictures you need during teardown?
Actually in this case it's all the pictures you think you'll need plus all the pictures you DON'T think you'll need :D

Dave,
Did you have any luck on getting answers regarding installing Viking seats in a Cruisair? I would like to put in some adjustable low back seats from an early Viking. If I can, I will do an Oregon Aero redo on them.
Does any one else have any info? I would appreciate it, and my wife (She Who Must Be Obeyed) would really appreciate it. She has really long legs, and it looks like GB designed the plane for people his size...which is ok for me, but not her!
Thanks! Larry

I ordered the FAA info on N44FP, but don't see the conversion as of yet.

E-mail me off-board and I'll see what I can dig up for ya. :D

I can give you a little informaton about Viking seats in a Cruisair.
The front seats only have about two inches of adjustment and the rear seat is wider than the Cruisair. The rear seats need to be "cut down" as they are several inches wider than the 14-13 2. Also, the bottom of the rear seat is longer and will result in less leg room than the original seats. I have modified my Cruisair but still have the original seats in case I can't get an STC.

Gary, are you going for an STC or a field approval? Good luck in either case. I am trying to get a simple field approval here in the NW, and it is pretty frustrating. It almost seems like the FAA is not really trying to promote safety. Could that be true...no, never.....

I am working with Alexandria AC to see how I might proceed. It ain't going to be cheap! Good luck!! Larry

I'm going for whatever my IA tells me to go after. I have the advantage of living five miles from the Bellanca factory and my IA is one of the owners, but that won't help with FAA approval. I have a long way to go before I have to worry about the FAA approval, however.
