A client of mine has a '65 GCAA with an O-320-A2B. The story is that it's been sitting in the hangar since around 2000 or 2001 when her father died. She wanted me to get it airworthy so she could sell it but when I pulled the mags out the gears and impulse coupling were coverd with a thick cruddy rust. After cleaning them up they are pitted pretty bad and I can only surmise that the rest of the engine internals are probably likewise. The wing spar AD has never been done but overall the airframe looks pretty good. It was recovered not too long before it went inactive.
I told her that it was very doubtful I could get this thing into an airworthy condition and have her come out ahead, she'd be looking at a $20k to $25k minimum investment and in the end - what would a decent '65 7GCAA be worth?
I'm figuring maybe $30k ???
How about as a project or parts doner?
