Around the World in a 1949 Cruisair
As you may already know, the Bellanca 'Columbia' (Lindbergh's first choice), made a non-stop flight to Germany in 1927, only two weeks after the Lone Eagle.
Now, member Willi Bernhard has shown that these Bellancas are still up to the task, flying from his home in Switzerland through Russia, Alaska and on to Oshkosh for the Big Event (AirVenture 2001.)
Willi and Elisabeth were Guests of Honor at our Banquet, then installed long-range tanks for the trans-Atlantic leg back home. See Issues 11-4 and 12-1 of our B-C Contact! for their fascinating travelogue
